Preston Max Allen

Preston Max Allen (he/him) is a playwright, composer, and screenwriter whose work has been performed across the US. Preston's original musical We Are The Tigers premiered Off-Broadway in 2019 (album now streaming), and recent projects include creating and co-producing the 2021 concert event A Place for Us: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary Artists in Musical Theatre. Preston is an LA Ovation winner for Best Lyrics/Composition (We Are The Tigers), member of the Ars Nova Play Group (2019-2021), and alum of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop. Above all, he is the proud father to his cat, Hero.

For a community relentlessly targeted by hateful legislation, this year’s Transgender Day of Visibility (celebrated on March 31) holds a heightened sense of urgency. I am ashamed to say that this day wasn’t even on my radar until I had a personal stake in it, but it now holds a special place of significance in my family.
