This message is an invitation to sign a letter to Governor Kathy Hochul calling on her to resist pressure from the White House and advance renewables, not fossil fuels, in New York State. Governor Hochul has demonstrated climate leadership around issues such as congestion pricing and offshore wind. The letter asks her to exercise this leadership now across all climate priorities in NYS. It's not a time for backsliding from her original bold plan. Here's why we hope you'll want to sign the letter.

We face an undeniable problem. Simply put, we're trapping too much of the sun's heat in our atmosphere and we're using too little of the sun's energy to power our lives. While most of the world moves decidedly towards renewable energy, our own country is moving in the opposite direction. This makes progress in our state critically important.

As Jews, we understand the obligation to care for God's creation, a commitment affirmed daily in our liturgy with the Hebrew word "Aleinu," meaning, "It's on us." Gov. Hochul often speaks of her roots as a "social justice Catholic." We need to encourage and support her, while reminding her of her obligation as governor and as a person of faith to protect all New Yorkers from harm.

As we ask ourselves what we'd be willing to do to ensure a future where life continues to thrive, whether for ourselves, our communities, our children or our grandchildren, we almost certainly answer, "Whatever it takes."

Signing this letter to the governor is your opportunity to take a small yet meaningful individual action toward that future in concert with the hundreds of other Jews across our state. Please take just a moment to sign on and tell Governor Hochul to advance renewables, not fossil fuels, and please share this letter widely with your networks. The deadline to sign on is Friday, November 21st.
