A project of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, RAC-FL is locally-led and collectively organizing Reform Jewish congregations and communities statewide to build a more just and compassionate Florida.

RAC-FL- Reproductive Freedom Campaign Update - September

RAC-FL's twenty campaign teams have committed to collecting 80,000 petitions by the end of December 2023.

At the end of August, volunteers collected over seven thousand five hundred signatures from Alachua County to Miami, Broward to Palm Beach County, and back up to Tallahassee.

Our September goals are:

  1. Double the number of signatures collected!

  2. Increase the number of volunteers on our teams!

  1. Welcome new volunteers from our coalition partners - The League of Women Voters, The National Organization of Women, Women of Reform Judaism, and the National Council of Jewish Women!

As one team, we will ensure reproductive freedom is enshrined in the Florida constitution.

History is within our reach; don't miss your chance to march with us as we create a Florida that is a bastion of justice, compassion, and wholeness.

Are you part of a team? Do you have questions about building a team?

RAC-FL Victories

We have been building RAC-FL since 2018 when we organized around the successful passage of Amendment 4, and in 2019 we partnered with immigration justice organizations to close the Homestead child detention center. In 2020 we channeled our energy into Every Voice, Every Vote: The Reform Movement’s Civic Engagement Campaign, through which we mobilized over ten thousand members/voter contacts in our congregations and communities and worked in partnership across lines of difference to mobilize low-propensity voters and combat voter suppression.

Past Events

2020 Launch and Civic Engagement Campaign

RAC-FL officially launched in July 2020, in conjunction with our statewide Civic Engagement Campaign, a part of Every Voice: The Reform Movement’s 2020 Civic Engagement Campaign. Our goals were to ensure that every voice was heard, and every vote counted in this past election and to begin building our RAC-FL base across the state. This campaign focused on:

  • Mobilizing our congregations to become 100% voting communities
  • Combatting voter suppression by mobilizing low propensity voters through phone banking in partnership with the New Florida Majority Education Fund
  • Engaging with County Supervisors of Elections in partnership with All Voting Is Local to ensure full access to the ballot for every eligible voter

  • Organizing Reform Jews to build our power to effectuate change across the state

We will do this through:

  • Inspiring Reform Jews to pursue social justice in keeping with our tradition's teachings
  • Educating Reform Jews on the real-life impact of issues of justice and fairness confronting the people of Florida
  • Training congregations to build their own social justice leadership teams
  • Motivating Reform Jews to take action, on their own and in partnership
  • Seeking and building partnerships across lines of difference based on our shared pursuit of justice
  • Building a sustainable organization in the State of Florida

We will do this through:

  • Developing social justice leadership across the state through education, training, and teaching
  • Empowering individuals and congregations to respond to social justice issues within their community
