Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom

Temple Committee Against Human Trafficking brought awareness on the issue of human trafficking to the community.

Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom in Montreal, Quebec, Canada established a four-day series to bring awareness of human trafficking to the congregation, Jewish community, general public, and youth. As a part of the program, authorities on the subject provided information at a Montreal high school as well as during Shabbat services at the congregation. The program closed with a powerful film about traffickers and their victims.

After the event, the committee established a strong coalition of human rights and religious groups that opened up communication links to exchange news, activities, and information. The coalition has also commited to working with law enforcement agencies such as the Montreal Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and government officials to partner in the fight against sexual slavery.
