RAC-CA 2018 Legislative Agenda
CA State Capitol

RAC-CA’s Agenda has two central priorities this year. The first is a $4 billion housing bond ballot measure, which will provide funding for affordable housing for veterans and others.

The second is SB-10, The Money Bail Reform Act, which would ensure that people awaiting trial are kept in jail only if they are dangerous or a flight risk, and not because they don’t have enough money to pay bail. RAC-CA is also working on an additional 10 bills and ballot measures.

The 2018 RAC-CA Lobby Day will be held in Sacramento on August 7 from 9:30AM to 3:30PM.

Always a moving and powerful day, we will engage in lobby training, meet with our state legislators, and hear from key California leaders. Past meetings have included Governor Jerry Brown and then-Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León.

In addition, this year we are partnering with URJ Camp Newman and Berkeley Congregation Beth El's Camp Kee Tov to raise up the power of our young voices as Hevrah and Gesher campers travel to Sacramento for their own lobby day.

Join us for two voter engagement web trainings particularly helpful for California congregations and communities:

  • June 5, 5:00-6:00PM PDT:
An introduction to the Reform movement’s national voter engagement work. Register for the first webinar.
  • June 21, 11:00AM-12:30PM PDT
A training on how to do voter engagement work in your congregation or community. The last half hour is especially for California residents, featuring information on CA ballot measures and a CA "100% Voting Congregation" campaign. Register for the second webinar.

If you can only make one of the trainings, the June 21 webinar will provide you with more direct support for your congregation’s or community’s work.
