Religious Action Center Deputy Director Rachel Laser Calls on Gov. Pence to Quickly Fix Religious Freedom Bill

Washington, DC – Rachel Laser, deputy director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism expressed continued concern about the much-derided religious freedom bill recently passed in Indiana. She made the following statement urging Governor Mike Pence to move quickly to fix the situation.

“Unlike needed federal religious liberty protections, the Indiana bill, like other state bills pretending to protect religious freedom, is in reality opening the door to discrimination against minorities and vulnerable populations. We can and must safeguard religious freedom without trampling on the rights of LGBT Americans and other communities in need of protection. Governor Pence and the Indiana legislature have failed to do that and must act quickly to rectify the situation as they seek a legislative fix.”
