WASHINGTON, D.C., November 20, 2015 — In response to to Jonathan Pollard's release from prison this morning, Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner, Director of the Religious Action Center, issued the following statement:
The Reform Movement is pleased that after 30 years, Jonathan Pollard is no longer imprisoned. While we have never condoned the actions that led to his conviction, his lengthy sentence was unprecedented among others convicted of similar crimes. We hope that Pollard will soon be allowed to travel to Israel, where he has expressed a desire to live and where he can be reunited with his wife, Esther.
