Beth David Reform Congregation
1130 Vaughans Lane
Gladwyne, Pennsylvania 19035
Target Groups: Multi-generational Social Action Program, Youth Group
Beth David Reform Congregation established what it calls its Integrated Social Action Program. By utilizing a “Mitzvah of the Month” column in the temple bulletin and website, the congregation was able to educate congregants about social action and other approaches to pursue justice. Activities varied from e-miling congress, encouraging particpation at various marches, soliciting donations, and providing logistical support at various events.
The congregation also works with the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) which is a partnership with other community groups. The congregation helps provide homes for the homeless and give support to those who move from place to place. They have also worked to mobilize the Beth David youth group to give out shaloach manot to the needy, worked with various congregants to help upkeep the Gladwyne Jewish cemetary, and continued to help the needy through spring Mitzvah Days.
