Mitzvah Day is a wonderful opportunity for your congregation to participate in the holy task of tikkun olam, repairing the world. Mitzvah Day is a concerted effort, on a single day, to bring the entire congregation together to spend one day volunteering with social justice projects/activities in the community. Congregants choose from a variety of projects that cater to diverse interests, capabilities, and ages.

A successful Mitzvah Day will strengthen your congregation’s commitment to social action and its identity as a caring community.

As some synagogues have been holding Mitzvah Days for a number of years, they have started to expand and enrich these events. Examples of this include: interfaith Mitzvah Days, Mitzvah Months or Mitzvah Weekends, and community-wide Mitzvah Days.
