Please provide this information to individuals writing your letters of recommendation

Thank you for recommending an applicant to the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism’s Machon Kaplan Summer Social Justice Program. 

Machon Kaplan is a unique work/study internship program for undergraduate students interested in social justice. The program provides students with a meaningful internship dealing with social justice issues; the opportunity to engage in academic study that relates to their internships; and a community of like-minded students to share the experience in a group living atmosphere. 

Two afternoons and two full days are spent in internships at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism or at other partner agencies in Washington.  Several mornings and some evenings each week are dedicated to the specially designed academic courses offered only to program participants. Students live together in the residence halls at The George Washington University and participate in social, cultural, and religious events together.

MachonKaplan participants take part in a wide range of social action activities including monitoring legislative activity, developing social action programming, coordinating special events, creating educational materials, researching, organizing materials, and participating in the mobilization of grassroots efforts.  For more information, please contact RAC Program Director Rabbi Michael Namath at (202) 387-2800 or mnamath@rac.org.

When writing your recommendation, please consider the following:

· Is the applicant capable of working effectively in a group setting? 
· Is the applicant capable of working effectively in a fast-paced setting?
· Does the applicant think creatively?
· Does the applicant possess good writing skills?
· Does the applicant possess good research skills?
· Does the applicant possess good analytical skills?
· Is the applicant capable of living in a group environment?
