America's Journey for Justice DC Rally and Advocacy Day

The Reform Movement has joined the NAACP on America’s Journey for Justice—an historic 860-mile march from Selma, Alabama, to Washington, D.C. The Religious Action Center is organizing hundreds of rabbis in partnership with the NAACP for the Journey, which will mobilize activists and advance a focused advocacy agenda that protects the right of every American to a fair criminal justice system, uncorrupted and unfettered access to the ballot box, sustainable jobs with a living wage, and equitable public education.

Congregations have come together not just to walk, but to educate and mobilize participants in the many rally days that have been held in multiple cities along the way. These marching rabbis carried the sacred scroll of our Torah, carrying thus the Jewish values that compel us to stand with our neighbors and to fight for racial justice and equality.

We would love for you to join us in Washington DC on September 15 and 16 for the culmination of the NAACP’s America’s Journey for Justice.

  2. Ask to speak to the office scheduler. He or she is responsible for arranging meetings in the office.
  3. If the scheduler is unavailable, leave a voicemail with your contact information and ask for a return call. Or you can ask for the scheduler’s email address and send your meeting request via email.
  4. Tell the scheduler you will be in DC for the NAACP’s Journey for Justice and would like to meet with your member of Congress, or a staff person, about racial justice. Let them know the times you are available. The scheduler may wish to combine your meeting with other constituents in DC for the Journey for Justice.
  5. Please follow up by email and phone is if you don’t hear back within the week.

Keep in mind:

  • Please schedule visits with both of your Senators and your Representative.
  • The rally will be taking place on the Senate side, so try to schedule meetings with your Senators first.
  • Give yourself at least 1 hour between meeting start times, especially if switching from the House side to the Senate side, and vice versa. (Cabs are available if needed).
