Evolution Weekend, sponsored by the Clergy Letter Project, is an interfaith, international effort to promote serious discussion about the relationship between religion and science. Over 650 congregations, including nearly 50 Reform Jewish congregations, are scheduled to participate. Through sermons, discussion groups, and seminars, these congregations will show that religion and science are not adversaries.
The public debate between proponents of evolution and so-called “intelligent design” has been growing in public schools across the country.
Objective scientific processes and theories must never be subverted to serve religious, political, or ideological goals. As people of faith have long known, science and God are complementary.
