- Electronic Privacy and Information Center (EPIC)
EPIC was established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging privacy issues. EPIC conducts litigation, sponsors conferences, produces reports, publishes the EPIC Alert and leads campaigns on privacy issues. The preeminent resource in Washington on privacy issues.
- American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
Originally founded in 1920, the ACLU conducts extensive litigation on Constitutional issues including privacy, and free speech. They have an action alert email list that you can join and affiliates you can easily contact at the state and local levels.
- Privacy Rights Clearinghouse
A California-based organization formed in 1992. The Clearinghouse has produced many fact sheets and an annual report, and maintains a toll free hotline to provide advice to consumers about their rights.
- Health Privacy Project
The Health Privacy Project is dedicated to raising public awareness of the importance of ensuring health privacy in order to improve health care access and quality. They have taken the lead with reaction to the HHS medical records regulations.
