Washington, D.C., June 24, 2008 – The Union for Reform Judaism lauds last week’s Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling upholding the District Court decision to keep open to the public the trial of two former AIPAC staff members. A statement by Rabbi David Saperstein, Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, follows:
We applaud the Fourth Circuit Court’s decision to keep open the trial of former AIPAC staffers Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman. Transparency is an essential part of a free and fair justice system and the court’s ruling serves to further those values. We look forward to a swift, public, and just resolution to this trial.
