Urge Congress to Extend Unemployment Benefits in Today's Vote - January 6, 2014
Due to inaction by Congress, federal unemployment benefits abruptly expired last week. 1.3 million jobless Americans are now without unemployment benefits, and another million will lose unemployment benefits over the next three months. Failure to extend unemployment insurance (UI) could plunge millions into poverty at a time when the unemployment rate is at 7%.
We are told in Proverbs 31:9 to "speak up, judge righteously, champion the poor and the needy."Urge your Senators and Representative to protect America's unemployed and extend emergency unemployment benefits in today's vote.
