Call for Nominations to the Commission on Social Action

October 9, 2013

The Commission on Social Action of Reform Judaism is accepting nominations for At-Large Members and we are seeking your recommendations for candidates for two-year terms beginning January 2014. Membership on the CSA is an opportunity to participate in one of the most vibrant, fascinating joint arms of the Reform Movement.

The number of openings is limited, so we cannot promise that your nominees will be accepted. The selection process is often quite competitive. We adhere to criteria that include: active participation in social justice work, involvement in the synagogue, and diversity (geographic, professional experience, political, gender, sexual orientation, etc.).

Candidates should be actively involved in the social action programs of their congregations and/or regions and able to travel to meetings twice a year for two to three days each. Meetings are typically held in Washington, D.C. or New York, N.Y. with occasional alternative locations. In addition to meetings, CSA members participate in task forces that work by conference call, and may be asked to participate in ad hoc committees as necessary.

The nomination form is available online here, and is also available at A letter of recommendation and/or resume may be included with the application, but is not required.
